Indonesia remote paradise offers the world best diving, but getting there requires planning. Here everything you need to know.

Getting There

Fly to Sorong (SOQ) via Jakarta or Makassar. From Sorong, take a ferry or speedboat to your resort. Budget at least 2 days for travel each way.

Best Time to Visit

October to April offers the best diving conditions with calm seas and visibility up to 30 meters. June to September sees rougher seas but fewer tourists.

Entry Permits

All visitors must purchase a Raja Ampat Marine Park entry permit (1,000,000 IDR for foreigners, valid for one year). Bring cash, as card payment is rarely available.

Where to Stay

Options range from basic homestays ($40-80/night including meals) to luxury eco-resorts like Misool ($800+/night). Book well in advance as capacity is limited.
